Friedrich Nietzsche

These lecture are an introduction to the ethics of Friedrich Nietzsche. Their aim is to provide an introduction to Nietzsche’s ethical thought and to provide the student with a sufficient background to pursue further study of Nietzsche’s ethics. Their objective is to provide the student with an in depth understanding of Nietzsche’s Genealogy of Morals. The lectures are primarily historical, though connections with contemporary philosophical problems will be touched upon.

The secondary literature on Nietzsche is complex, and, for now, your time is probably better spent trying to understand Nietzsche rather than Nietzsche commentators.
